Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to medical, surgical, and orthopedic patients on a Med-Surg/Telemetry unit
• Monitor telemetry and respond to rhythm changes and alarms with timely assessment and intervention
• Administer medications, including titratable heparin per protocol, and document effects
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including RTs, physicians, and patient care techs to coordinate safe patient care
• Accurately chart patient care and assessments in EPIC to maintain clear continuity of care
• Support patient flow and acuity-based assignments while maintaining safe nurse-to-patient ratios
• Complete unit-specific orientation and pass required competency assessments during orientation

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (able to submit license)
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry experience preferred)
• Current BLS certification required
• Valid driver’s license required at submittal to confirm radius eligibility
• Ability to pass orientation skills exam (90% required) and adhere to facility policies (including fingernail policy)
• Willingness to float to PCU or Burn units and work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Not currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) and within 50-mile radius rules

Education

• Active RN license (state of practice)
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid Med-Surg and telemetry assessment skills
• Proficient with EPIC charting and electronic documentation
• Medication administration competence, including heparin titration protocols
• Strong clinical judgment and prioritization under 1:5-1:6 ratios
• Effective communication and teamwork with RTs, charge nurses, and support staff
• Familiarity with acute care equipment and centralized telemetry monitoring
• Ability to mentor and coordinate with patient care technicians
• Time management, critical thinking, and patient advocacy
