Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to medical and surgical patients on a 61-bed combined MedSurg float unit
- Assess, plan and implement individualized care plans using EPIC charting
- Collaborate with monitor techs and confirm telemetry strips to ensure patient safety
- Operate and monitor respiratory support equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP and hi-flow when needed
- Float between units as needed, adapting quickly and maintaining excellent patient care
- Communicate clearly with multidisciplinary team members and participate in handoffs and shift reporting
- Support unit workflows and step into charge-related tasks when appropriate
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (ND or compact state where applicable)
- BLS certification required; ACLS or other certifications a plus
- Minimum 2 years experience in MedSurg or comparable acute care settings
- Experience with EPIC charting preferred
- Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and confirming strips
- Ability to float across med/surg areas and work collaboratively on a unit-first culture
- Travel nursing experience is a plus but not required
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid med/surg clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
- Telemetry monitoring and basic ECG rhythm recognition
- Familiarity with CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow oxygen delivery
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record
- Strong communication, teamwork and time management skills
- Adaptability to float to different patient populations and workflows
