Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and maternal status using Advanced Fetal Monitoring and Fetal Link to keep moms and babies safe
• Provide hands-on labor management and bedside care for laboring patients with one-to-two ratios, following AWOHNN guidelines
• Circulate for C-sections and assist in the OR as required while collaborating with OR teams
• Deliver compassionate postpartum and couplet care with a one-to-four ratio for newborn-mother dyads
• Perform triage assessments for obstetric admissions and prioritize care for high-risk presentations
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Collaborate with OB techs, charge nurses, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy to coordinate timely care
• Act as a patient advocate and educator, supporting families through labor, delivery, and postpartum transitions

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for practice in California
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring; COVID-19 vaccination required
• Experience circulating for C-sections required; scrubbing experience preferred
• Comfortable working with Cerner EMR and Fetal Link monitoring systems
• Ability to float to postpartum as needed and work every-other-weekend

Education

• Active RN license in California; ADN or BSN accepted (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring skills and Advanced Fetal Monitoring proficiency
• Proficient with Cerner electronic medical record
• Experience with Fetal Link and Phillips telemetry systems
• Skilled in couplet care and postpartum nursing
• Triage assessment and prioritization for obstetric patients
• Operative room circulation and collaboration with surgical teams
• Critical thinking, effective communication, and teamwork in high-acuity situations
