Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care for laboring patients, inductions, and cesarean support
• Continuously monitor fetal and maternal status using advanced fetal monitoring and intervene as needed
• Titrate and manage drips such as Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate safely and per protocol
• Perform thorough triage assessments for patients 20 weeks gestation and greater and escalate when appropriate
• Collaborate with OB, neonatology, and unit team members to coordinate timely, high-quality care
• Serve as a calm, competent presence during emergencies including fetal demise and high-acuity obstetric situations
• Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate handoffs clearly to incoming staff

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of California or ability to obtain prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of current Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Required certifications: NRP, ACLS, BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring; NIHSS also listed
• Ability to safely titrate drips and manage high-acuity obstetric patients
• Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and scheduled on-call rotations
• Clean background check, current immunizations, and ability to complete a 1-day unit orientation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN is not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in Electronic Fetal Monitoring and interpretation
• Comfortable with Cerner charting system and documentation workflows
• Experience with induction and cesarean care, triage assessment, and postpartum coordination
• Familiarity with AWHONN guidelines and evidence-based L&D practices
• Ability to monitor and use pulse oximetry and other routine maternal monitoring devices
• Competence in teamwork, clear communication, and rapid decision making in acute situations
