Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Labor & Delivery nursing care across antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum phases
• Deliver 1:1 care for active deliveries and manage 1:2 for regular labor patients
• Perform and interpret intermediate fetal heart monitoring and act swiftly on nonreassuring tracings
• Circulate for C-sections and accompany patients to OR and PACU (no scrubbing required)
• Lead and participate in perinatal safety checklists and unit protocols to ensure safe outcomes
• Collaborate closely with anesthesia, RT, pharmacy, OR teams and unit leadership
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to maintain continuity of care
• Support unit staffing needs by floating to Mother Baby and Postpartum as required

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arizona (or compact RN able to work in AZ)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Comfortable circulating for C-sections and following patients to OR/PACU
• Experience with perinatal safety checklists, epidural care, and telemetry transfers
• Willingness to float frequently between Mercy Gilbert and Chandler Regional
• Able to complete Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam (if applicable) 24-48 hours prior to hire and pass a Day 1 Sim Lab

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal heart monitoring and AWHONN intermediate FHM expertise
• Inpatient acute Labor & Delivery care and maternal/newborn best practices
• Cerner electronic charting proficiency
• NRP, ACLS, BLS clinical skills and neonatal resuscitation readiness
• C-section circulation workflow and OR/PACU handoffs
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, communication and patient advocacy
• Comfort managing high-volume birth centers and perinatal safety protocols
