Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care from admission through delivery and postpartum, ensuring patient-centered, evidence-based practice
• Monitor fetal status using FE Centricity Perinatal and interpret fetal strips with confidence
• Titrate IV drips safely and accurately, including Pitocin, insulin drips and magnesium sulfate
• Manage routine and intermediate nursery care and stabilize neonates for transfer when needed (bubble CPAP/vent stabilization)
• Document thoroughly and timely in MEDITECH to maintain clear continuity of care
• Collaborate with OBs, unit charge nurses and house supervisors to coordinate care and escalate concerns
• Serve as a dependable team member who can independently manage multiple patients and step into charge/collaboration roles as needed
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery and postpartum care with compassion and clarity

Qualifications

• Current RN license in OR or eligible for OR 90-Day Emergency License
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery / postpartum nursing experience
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Comfortable with fetal monitoring (EFM) and central monitoring systems
• Demonstrated ability to titrate drips (Pitocin, insulin, magnesium sulfate)
• Experience with MEDITECH charting preferred (MEDITECH 5.66 noted)
• Ability to float between L&D, postpartum and nursery and work independently in varied unit activity levels
• Strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Active RN license required (ADN/Associate or Diploma acceptable) — BSN not required

• Labor and Delivery and Postpartum nursing best practices
• FE Centricity Perinatal fetal monitoring system
• EFM interpretation and central fetal strip monitoring
• IV/drip titration protocols and safe medication administration
• Neonatal routine and intermediate nursery care and stabilization techniques (bubble CPAP, vent stabilization)
• MEDITECH electronic charting and documentation
• AWHONN staffing/ratio awareness and unit-based teamwork
• Patient education, triage and transfer coordination
