Roles & Responsibilities

• Attend and manage labor & delivery patients independently, providing safe, evidence-based care
• Circulate in C-sections and support the surgical team during operative deliveries
• Assist with neonatal transition — catch the baby and support immediate newborn care
• Titrate drips safely (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin) per unit protocols
• Perform triage for obstetric patients and escalate care appropriately
• Document accurately and efficiently using Epic and Centricity Perinatal electronic charting
• Collaborate with OB/hospitalist, anesthesia, NNPs and the interdisciplinary team for emergent and routine care
• Provide compassionate postpartum and mother-baby education and support

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (WA or compact licensure acceptable; facility willing to wait for license submission)
• Minimum 2 years of L&D/LDRP experience (1 year considered if you have multiple prior travel assignments)
• Current BLS, ACLS and NRP certifications required
• Comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
• Experience with drip titration and management of magnesium, Pitocin and insulin
• Familiarity with Epic and Centricity Perinatal charting systems
• Prefer intermediate/advanced fetal heart monitoring (FHM) competency

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (preferred but optional)

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby and Postpartum care best practices
• Neonatal transition and basic newborn resuscitation knowledge
• Fetal heart monitoring (FHM) interpretation and escalation
• High-risk obstetric care (preeclampsia, diabetes, substance exposure, psych/social challenges)
• Triage assessment and prioritization in acute obstetric settings
• Strong teamwork, adaptability to unit workflows, and clear communication skills
• Ability to work within AWHONN-recommended staffing ratios and float between L&D and postpartum as needed
