Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care on the Labor & Delivery / Mother-Baby unit
- Attend and manage low-risk deliveries independently and assist in cesarean circulations
- Perform newborn transition and initial stabilization (catching and transitioning babies)
- Titrate and monitor drips such as Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin safely and according to protocol
- Collaborate with OB hospitalists, anesthesiology, neonatal teams, surgical techs, and tele/monitor techs for seamless patient care
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and use Centricity Perinatal for fetal monitoring
- Follow AWHONN-informed ratios and unit policies to support patient safety and quality outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (WA or compact where applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (L&D required); will consider 1 year with extensive prior travel experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections
- Experience with LDRP, postpartum/mother-baby care, and newborn transition/catching
- Experience with Epic charting and Centricity Perinatal or equivalent EFM systems
- Ability to titrate drips (Magnesium, Pitocin, Insulin) and manage high-acuity OB patients
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN not required (associate degree or diploma acceptable); BSN preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge & Skills
- Labor & Delivery workflows, LDRP model, and postpartum couplet care
- C-section circulation and OR collaboration
- Neonatal transition and newborn stabilization
- Fetal heart monitoring skills (intermediate/advanced preferred)
- Drip titration and infusion management
- Proficiency with Epic charting and Centricity-Perinatal fetal monitoring
- Strong communication and teamwork with multi-disciplinary teams including NNPs, OB/hospitalists, anesthesia, and surgical techs
