Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and respond to changes to ensure safe deliveries
• Titrate infusion drips including pitocin, insulin and magnesium according to protocols
• Provide skilled couplet care for mother and newborn with attention to AWHONN guidelines
• Float to MedSurg and Emergency Department as needed, bringing flexibility and teamwork
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Meditech to support continuity of care
• Troubleshoot Philips monitors and EFM systems (TraceView/PIP) and coordinate tech support
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesia, and nursing colleagues to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in quality metrics and unit initiatives to continuously improve care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (ND licensure required for practice in state)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, obstetric/neonatal experience preferred
• BLS and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required
• ACLS, NRP and STABLE preferred
• Proven ability to read and interpret fetal strips with strong critical thinking skills
• Comfortable titrating drips including pitocin, insulin and magnesium
• Willingness and ability to float to MedSurg and ER as needed
• Must comply with facility radius rule: no FT, PT, or PRN employment with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facilities within the past 12 months

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN acceptable)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal monitoring and fetal strip interpretation expertise
• Experience with drip titration protocols and safe infusion practices
• Couplet care for mother and newborn, postpartum nursing skills
• Familiarity with AWHONN guidelines and safe staffing ratios
• Meditech EMR charting experience
• Experience with Philips tele/monitor systems and TraceView/PIP EFM
• Basic RT equipment troubleshooting knowledge (vent, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)
• Strong critical thinking, adaptability and clear communication skills
