Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to laboring patients, including inductions and cesarean care
- Monitor fetal status using Electronic Fetal Monitoring (Fetal link) and intervene promptly when indicated
- Titrate drips safely and accurately (Pitocin, insulin, magnesium) per unit protocols
- Perform triage assessments for pregnant patients at 20 weeks or greater and escalate concerns appropriately
- Document patient care thoroughly in Cerner to ensure continuity and clear communication
- Collaborate with OB, neonatology, and the interdisciplinary team for excellent patient outcomes
- Serve as a reliable team member for EOW coverage and scheduled on-call shifts
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license (able to submit California RN applicants)
- Minimum 2 years current Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Required certifications: NRP, ACLS, BLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (NIHSS listed as required)
- Comfort and competence with drip titration (Pitocin, insulin, magnesium)
- Experience with Cerner charting and Electronic Fetal Monitoring systems (Fetal link)
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and meet weekend/on-call requirements
Education
- Active RN license required (California)
- Associate degree or Nursing diploma accepted; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced fetal monitoring interpretation and management
- Neonatal Resuscitation procedures (NRP)
- ACLS and BLS life support skills
- Safe infusion and drip titration practices
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting
- Strong triage assessment and critical thinking under pressure
- Clear communication and teamwork in a busy L&D environment
