Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care nursing for ICU and PCU patients, delivering safe, evidence-based bedside care
- Manage ventilators and lead ventilator weaning and troubleshooting efforts alongside RTs
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring, interpret arterial lines and Swan-Ganz tracings, and adjust care accordingly
- Titrate critical drips (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants) safely and per protocol
- Assess and manage devices such as CRRT/Prismaflex, IABP, Impella, TAVR and VADs when assigned
- Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG/dysrhythmias; perform ABG interpretation to guide respiratory and acid-base management
- Participate in rapid response, code blue responses, and float across ICU/PCU as staffing needs dictate
- Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate clearly with multidisciplinary team members
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for Arizona submission
- Minimum 2 years of critical care/ICU nursing experience (per job posting)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation skills; clinician must pass the dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts) prior to contract
- Proven ability to titrate critical care drips and manage arterial lines and chest tubes
- Experience with ventilator management and weaning
- CRRT experience preferred (Prismaflex a plus); IABP experience preferred
- Willingness to float across ICU/PCU and cover first-to-float night assignments
Education
- Active RN license required; BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation (art lines, Swan-Ganz)
- Telemetry/monitor strip reading (Nihon Kohden familiarity helpful)
- CRRT setup and management, Prismaflex exposure
- ABG interpretation and acid-base assessment
- Titration of critical drips (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, vasoactives)
- Post-op cardiac and advanced cardiac device care (Impella, IABP, TAVR, VAD)
- Cerner charting and electronic documentation best practices
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced acute care setting
