Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate ICU nursing care to patients with cardiac and respiratory diagnoses
• Manage mechanical ventilation and collaborate with RTs available 24/7
• Titrate vasoactive and sedative drips (Levophed, Propofol, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, Precedex, insulin) safely and per protocol
• Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret ECG strips as part of bedside care
• Serve in charge nurse or house supervisor roles when assigned, leading the team and coordinating patient flow
• Perform critical assessments, implement interventions, and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team
• Float to other units as needed per contract and support unit staffing needs
• Respond to call/standby notifications and arrive within the required timeframe when placed on call

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Oregon) required; eligible for 90 OR Emergency License if needed
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Experience in acute care and critical care settings, ideally ICU with 1:2 ratios
• Comfort and competence with ventilator management and titration of drips
• Ability to read telemetry/ECG strips and act on findings
• Willingness to float per ONA contract rules and fulfill charge/house supervisor duties when assigned
• Reliable ability to meet 30-minute call response time when on standby

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required/preferred
• Current state RN license and required BLS/ACLS certifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Acute and critical care nursing principles
• Mechanical ventilation and respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, vents)
• Titration and management of vasoactive and sedative infusions
• Telemetry monitoring and ECG strip interpretation
• Meditech EHR documentation and workflows
• Prioritization, delegation, and charge nurse leadership skills
• Collaborative communication with intensivists, hospitalists, and RTs
