Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM (day) and 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM (night); rotating schedule includes every-other weekend and minimum holiday coverage (at least 2 holidays during the contract).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality critical care nursing for adult ICU patients, managing complex conditions like trauma, cardiac events, sepsis, stroke, and respiratory distress
- Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and ECG strips using GE monitors and document findings accurately
- Safely titrate and manage drips including cardiac infusions, insulin, and sedation per unit protocols
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RTs, physicians, techs) to coordinate care and escalate changes in patient status
- Troubleshoot ventilator, High Flow, CPAP and BiPAP issues and work with Respiratory Therapy for advanced interventions
- Mentor and work alongside healthcare support staff and nurse aides to ensure safe patient ratios and 1:1 sitter coverage when needed
- Maintain meticulous documentation, participate in orientation and complete required competencies and unit-specific training
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska (or compact RN licensure where applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to confirm 50-mile radius eligibility)
- ICU experience with telemetry and ECG interpretation; experience titrating drips is required
- Comfortable troubleshooting vents and managing patients on High Flow/CPAP/BiPAP
- Ability to meet facility policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy) and pass orientation competency exam (90% required)
- Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, every-other weekend, and assigned holiday shifts during the contract
- Not currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care nursing principles and adult ICU management
- Telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation (GE monitors)
- Medication and drip titration protocols (cardiac drips, insulin, sedation)
- Patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
- Familiarity with ventilators, High Flow, CPAP and BiPAP troubleshooting
- Familiarity with trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, renal failure, and overdose care
- Strong documentation, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
