Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; schedule includes weekends (4 weekends per 4 weeks) and holiday rotation; may require standby and floating to other ICU/telemetry units

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert neurocritical care for patients in the Neuro ICU, delivering safe, compassionate nursing
- Perform frequent neuro assessments and manage ICP monitoring and EVD care with precision
- Manage ventilators and coordinate respiratory care with RT 24/7
- Maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes per SIMs Lab expectations
- Collaborate with neurosurgery, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes
- Float between ICU and telemetry units as needed and manage higher telemetry loads when assigned
- Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure clear communication and continuity of care
- Step into charge nurse duties when assigned to lead the team and mentor colleagues
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state where practicing) required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large (450+ bed) facility
- Required Level 1 trauma experience
- Required EVD (external ventricular drain) experience and strong ICP monitoring skills
- Experience with ventilator management and Phillips telemetry monitors
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- 3-6 months travel experience preferred
- Able to complete and pass facility pre-screening and competency requirements (DYS exam, SIMs Lab)
- Travel teams must have their own vehicle and be able to comply with facility PPE/fit-test policies (for example, no facial piercings that prevent a fit test; male candidates must be clean-shaven when required)

- Active RN license (required)

- Advanced neuro assessment and recognition of neurologic changes
- ICP monitoring and management
- EVD care and troubleshooting
- Ventilator management and coordination with RT
- Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change competency
- Telemetry interpretation using Phillips monitors
- Sterile technique, wound care, and patient lift/transfer safety
- Charge nurse skills, delegation, and mentoring
- Documentation in Cerner and adherence to unit-specific protocols
