Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert neurocritical care for patients in the Neuro ICU, delivering safe, compassionate nursing
• Perform frequent neuro assessments and manage ICP monitoring and EVD care with precision
• Manage ventilators and coordinate respiratory care with RT 24/7
• Maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes per SIMs Lab expectations
• Collaborate with neurosurgery, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes
• Float between ICU and telemetry units as needed and manage higher telemetry loads when assigned
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure clear communication and continuity of care
• Step into charge nurse duties when assigned to lead the team and mentor colleagues

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state where practicing) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large (450+ bed) facility
• Required Level 1 trauma experience
• Required EVD (external ventricular drain) experience and strong ICP monitoring skills
• Experience with ventilator management and Phillips telemetry monitors
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• 3-6 months travel experience preferred
• Able to complete and pass facility pre-screening and competency requirements (DYS exam, SIMs Lab)
• Travel teams must have their own vehicle and be able to comply with facility PPE/fit-test policies (for example, no facial piercings that prevent a fit test; male candidates must be clean-shaven when required)

• Documentation in Cerner and adherence to unit-specific protocols
