Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care to surgical, trauma, neuro and cardiac ICU patients
• Safely titrate and manage vasoactive and sedative drips (e.g., levophed, propofol, precedex)
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support (Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett, V60s)
• Interpret ECG strips and monitor dysrhythmias independently using GE monitors
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists and respiratory therapists for 24/7 coverage
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned and ensure safe nurse:patient ratios (1:2 or 1:1)
• Document accurately in Cerner and participate in bedside handoffs and unit rounds
• Participate in required competency checks, UNA dysrhythmia exam and a pass/fail Sim Lab

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice (eligible to submit)
• Minimum 3 years of recent experience with at least 2 years in the ICU (no exceptions)
• Clinical experience in either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) critical care required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS required
• Comfort titrating drips and managing complex hemodynamic patients
• Experience with ventilator management and ECG interpretation
• Ability to float to telemetry and sister ICUs (expect 1:3 or 1:4 telemetry ratios)
• Willingness to complete unit-specific orientation and competency validations

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU workflows
• Trauma, neuro and cardiac/CV critical care principles
• Drip titration and vasoactive medication management
• Ventilator management and advanced respiratory support
• ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Familiarity with GE monitoring systems and Cerner charting
• Experience or exposure to specialty devices (ECMO, IABP, Impella, TandemHeart) is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization and communication skills
