Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing for Neuro ICU patients, managing complex neuro diagnoses and post-op neurosurgical care
• Perform detailed neuro assessments and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) with precision
• Manage ventilators, advanced monitoring equipment (Phillips monitors), and coordinate with RT and pharmacy for 24/7 care
• Maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; complete SIMs Lab competencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, serve as charge nurse when assigned (charge does not take patients), and support safe patient flow
• Float to Telemetry and other ICU floors as needed, accepting variable patient ratios (1:2 typical in Neuro ICU; up to 4:1 on Tele)

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (able to work in Arizona)
• BLS and ACLS certification required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience in a large hospital (450+ beds) — strong neuro ICU background preferred
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• EVD (external ventricular drain) experience required
• 3-6 months travel nurse experience preferred; willing to float and work standby shifts
• Comfortable with Cerner EMR and Phillips monitoring systems

Education

• Active RN license (Arizona)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro assessment and critical thinking skills
• ICP monitoring and interpretation
• Ventilator management and familiarity with ICU ventilators
• Central line care and sterile field maintenance
• Foley catheter insertion competency
• Ability to triage and manage high-acuity patients in a 1:2 critical care ratio
• Experience charting in Cerner and working with Phillips monitors
• Adaptability to float between ICU and Telemetry units
