Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, rotating schedule with 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks (night weekends: Friday - Saturday); self-scheduling with manager balancing unit needs; guaranteed 36 hours/week

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care to trauma, neuro, and cardiovascular ICU patients with skill and compassion
- Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation and advanced respiratory support
- Titrate vasoactive, sedative, analgesic, and paralytic drips safely and per protocol
- Interpret telemetry/ECG strips independently and respond to dysrhythmias
- Deliver specialty post-op care (TAVR, CABG, post-cath), neuro-surgical cases, and trauma resuscitation support
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, RTs, and multidisciplinary teams for 24/7 patient management
- Document care accurately in Cerner and maintain clear handoffs
- Participate in required competency validation: UNA Dysrhythmia exam and a pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to submit license)
- Minimum 3 years recent experience; at least 2 of those years in ICU care (experience must include neuro or cardiovascular exposure)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Proven ability to titrate drips and manage critical care meds (propofol, vasopressors, paralytics, insulin, heparin, etc.)
- Experience with ventilator management (Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett families) and advanced cardiac devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO preferred)
- Comfort interpreting telemetry/ECG strips independently (UNA Dysrhythmia exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance; max 2 attempts)
- Ability to pass a Day 1 simulation lab during orientation
- Willingness to float between multiple ICUs and adapt to a level 1 trauma environment
- Candidates must not have worked full-time/part-time/PRN at any CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity facility within the past year (radius rule)
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN preferred but not required; critical care certifications (ACLS, BLS, NIHSS) required
Knowledge & Skills
- ICU critical care fundamentals and best practices
- Ventilator management and advanced respiratory support
- Telemetry and ECG strip interpretation skills
- Medication titration and drip management
- Trauma, neuro-surgical, and cardiovascular critical care knowledge
- Familiarity with CRRT/ECMO/IABP/Impella workflows (preferred)
- Electronic charting in Cerner and unit documentation
- Strong multidisciplinary communication and rapid clinical decision-making
