Shift Type: Rotating nights, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; self-scheduling with scheduler rebalancing; includes 12-hour orientation (2 shifts) and approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks; holidays covered per unit rotation

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality critical care to adult patients across SICU, MICU and Trauma ICU with confidence and compassion
- Manage and titrate vasoactive drips and complex infusions per unit protocols
- Operate and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators (Cerevo I, jet and oscillator experience helpful) and provide advanced vent care
- Read and interpret telemetry strips and dysrhythmias — you’ll be responsible for bedside rhythm interpretation
- Perform bedside procedures and competency-based skills including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (SIMs Lab validated)
- Respond to Level 1 trauma activations and collaborate seamlessly with the multidisciplinary team including 24/7 intensivist and RT coverage
- Document patient care accurately in Cerner and participate in handoffs that keep patients safe
- Float among ICU pods and to MedSurg/Tele units as needed to support patient care and staffing needs
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to submit; DL within 50-mile radius is used as source of truth)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required, including experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility
- Must have Level 1 trauma experience — this is non-negotiable for this unit
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications and NIHSS required
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam (two attempts allowed) and pass SIMs Lab skills assessments on day 1 of orientation
- Comfortable reading/interpreting telemetry, managing mechanical ventilation, and titrating drips
- Travel teams must provide their own vehicle and meet facility appearance/fit-test expectations (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men clean-shaven for fit test)
Education
- Active RN licensure required
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in ICU nursing, trauma care, and critical care assessment
- Mechanical ventilator management and ventilator modes (including Cervo I, jet and oscillator familiarity)
- Telemetry/ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
- Central line care and sterile technique, Foley catheter insertion skills
- Experience with bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy assistance, tracheostomy care, and hemodialysis catheter management
- Comfortable charting in Cerner and working with multidisciplinary teams including RTs and intensivists
