Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage critically ill patients in the SICU with vigilance and clinical skill
• Monitor hemodynamics and interpret telemetry/ECG strips every 4 hours, acting promptly on changes
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips and other titratable medications following protocol
• Manage mechanical ventilation and collaborate with RTs for optimal respiratory care
• Care for patients with advanced cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella) and post-cardiac procedures (TAVR, open heart)
• Maintain invasive lines and provide meticulous documentation in Cerner
• Coordinate care with intensivists, surgeons, therapists, and ICU tech/CNA to deliver seamless treatment
• Provide patient and family education, support, and clear communication during critical events

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (or compact license if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of acute/ICU nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required
• Proven experience with ventilator management and vasoactive drip titration
• Comfortable interpreting telemetry/ECG strips and performing hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and GE bedside/central monitors
• Ability to float to telemetry and work collaboratively with ICU tech/CNA

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing principles and 1:1 or 1:2 nurse:patient ratios
• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator weaning concepts
• Vasoactive medication administration and titration
• Telemetry monitoring and ECG strip interpretation
• Hemodynamic monitoring and management of invasive lines
• Experience with cardiac assist devices (IABP, Impella) and post-op cardiac care
• Stroke care, TNK administration, and neuro thrombectomy familiarity
• Use of Cerner electronic medical record and GE monitoring systems
