Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert neurocritical care for patients in a 32-bed Neuro ICU, managing complex neuro diagnoses and post-op neurosurgical patients
• Perform and interpret frequent neuro assessments and manage ICP monitoring and EVD devices safely
• Manage ventilated patients and collaborate with RT for optimal respiratory support
• Maintain sterile technique for procedures and successfully complete SIMs Lab competencies (Foley insertion, central line dressing changes, etc.)
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate changes promptly to the interdisciplinary team
• Float to telemetry and other ICU floors when needed while maintaining high-quality patient care
• Support unit operations by adhering to unit ratios (1:2) and participating in core staff rotation and orientation

Qualifications

• Current RN license or eligible to obtain an Arizona RN license (License to submit accepted/willing to wait)
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a large (450+ bed) hospital
• Must have Level 1 trauma experience
• Required EVD (external ventricular drain) experience and strong ICP monitoring skills
• 3-6 months prior travel experience preferred
• Ability to pass facility pre-screens, DYS exam (2 attempts allowed), and SIMs Lab competencies
• Facility-specific requirements: natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men clean-shaven for fit testing

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced neuro assessment and critical-care nursing skills
• Experience with ICP monitoring and EVD management
• Ventilator management and collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Proficient charting in Cerner EMR
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitors
• Competence with sterile field procedures, Foley insertion, and central line care
• Ability to float across ICU and telemetry units and manage variable patient assignments
