Shift Type: Nights, Rotating 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; rotating schedule that includes 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks; may include standby shifts and floating to Tele/other ICU floors

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care for neuro surgery and neuro trauma patients in a 32-bed Neuro ICU
- Perform thorough neuro assessments and manage ICP monitoring, external ventricular drains (EVDs) and ventilated patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT and pharmacy (24/7) to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain sterile technique during procedures and complete SIMs Lab competencies (Foley insertion, central line dressing changes, etc.)
- Float to Tele units when required, safely managing increased patient ratios on Tele assignments
- Serve as a charge resource when assigned and coordinate patient care handoffs clearly and professionally
Qualifications
- Active RN (Registered Nurse) license; able to submit license as instructed (facility willing to wait)
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a large hospital (450+ beds); Level 1 Trauma experience required
- Must have EVD (external ventricular drain) experience and strong neuro assessment / ICP monitoring skills
- 3-6 months prior travel nurse experience preferred
- Proven competency with Cerner EMR and Phillips monitors
- Willingness to pass facility-required exams (DYS exam prior to acceptance; SIMs Lab pass/fail on arrival) and comply with facility appearance/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit test)
- Travel teams must provide their own vehicle and respect the 50-mile radius / driving-license requirements
Education
- Active RN license required (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in neuro critical care concepts: ICP, EVD management, neuro exam trends
- Ventilator management and collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Central line & Foley skills including dressing changes and sterile technique
- Familiarity with telemetry and Phillips monitor systems
- Comfort with high-acuity caseloads (1:2 neuro ICU ratio) and periodic floating to Tele (up to 4:1 on Tele)
- Strong clinical judgment, clear communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced ICU environment
