Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, schedule varies and includes weekends (4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks); may be placed on standby and required to float between ICU and Tele units

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert neuro critical care for Neuro ICU patients, including managing complex post-op neurosurgical cases
- Monitor and respond to intracranial pressure (ICP) and manage patients with EVDs (external ventricular drains)
- Manage ventilators and respiratory support in collaboration with respiratory therapy
- Perform comprehensive neuro assessments and implement timely interventions
- Maintain sterile technique and perform Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes after SIMs Lab competency
- Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
- Serve as a reliable floater between ICU and Tele units when needed, maintaining patient safety and standards
- Support unit quality and safety by following trauma-level protocols and participating in unit education
Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
- Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a large (450+ bed) hospital
- Level 1 trauma experience required
- EVD (external ventricular drain) experience and strong ICP monitoring skills
- 3-6 months travel nursing experience preferred
- Willingness to complete and pass DYS exam and SIMs Lab competencies (Foley insertion, central line dressing change) prior to or during orientation
- Ability to meet facility appearance and fit-test requirements (facility requests natural hair color, no facial piercings; men clean-shaven for fit testing)
- Reliable transportation (travel teams must have their own vehicles) and able to float between units
Knowledge & Skills
- Neuro assessment and critical care management
- ICP monitoring and EVD management
- Ventilator management and collaboration with RT
- Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing change competency
- Cerner EMR charting and documentation
- Telemetry and Phillips monitoring systems
- Ability to maintain sterile field and infection control practices
- Strong clinical judgment in trauma and post-op neurosurgical care
