Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (self-scheduled; variable days), includes approximately 3 weekend shifts every 4 weeks; holidays scheduled per core staff rotation

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert critical care nursing for adult patients in SICU/MICU/TICU, delivering safe, high-acuity bedside care
- Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment (Cervo I, Jets, Oscillators) to optimize patient breathing
- Interpret telemetry and ECG strips, identify dysrhythmias and act promptly per protocol
- Titrate vasoactive drips and commonly used infusions with precise medication management
- Perform sterile bedside procedures and maintain sterile field for central line dressing changes and Foley insertions
- Assist with bedside procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care and hemodialysis catheter management
- Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists and multidisciplinary team for coordinated care 24/7
- Document accurately in Cerner and participate in unit-based education including SIMs Lab and skills validation
Qualifications
- Active RN license (AZ or compact state) required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility preferred
- Must have Level 1 Trauma experience
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Successful completion of dysrhythmia exam (travelers have two attempts) and pass/fail SIMs Lab for Foley and central line dressing change
- Comfort with ventilator management, telemetry interpretation and medication titration
- Willingness to float across ICU areas and to MedSurg/Tele as needed
- Travel requirements: must have reliable vehicle; facility grooming/personal appearance rules apply (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing)
Education
- Active RN license required
- BSN preferred but not required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong foundation in critical care and trauma nursing principles
- Proficiency with ventilator modes and settings and bedside respiratory equipment
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring/ECG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
- Medication titration and drip management expertise
- Sterile technique for central line care and Foley catheter insertion
- Experience with wound care, prone (RotoProne) therapy and post-transplant postoperative management
- Comfortable charting and navigating Cerner
- Ability to work effectively in high-acuity, fast-paced teaching hospital environment
