Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC). Typically scheduled 7-7 nights with a rotating schedule that includes weekend nights (Friday & Saturday) and a requirement of 4 weekend shifts per pay period. Schedule posted 4 weeks in advance; traveler will float as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert critical care nursing for CVICU/MS ICU/PCU patients, providing compassionate, evidence-based care
- Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret EKGs; successfully complete required dysrhythmia exam prior to contract
- Manage mechanical ventilation including troubleshooting and weaning support
- Initiate and manage CRRT and related therapies, and care for patients with arterial lines and Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Safely titrate critical drips (pressors, sedation, anticoagulation) following protocols
- Respond decisively to rapid responses and code blue events and support charge nurse responsibilities when needed
- Perform accurate, timely documentation in Cerner to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including intensivists, NPs, RTs and others to optimize patient outcomes
- Float between units as part of the rotation and support team staffing needs
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for practice in Arizona (license to submit required)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU/critical care RN experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required prior to start)
- Strong EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills — must pass the dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts)
- Experience with mechanical ventilation, ventilator weaning and troubleshooting
- Comfortable titrating drips and managing complex critical care infusions
- Previous CRRT/Prismaflex and IABP experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Willingness to float to PCU/MST/EC ICU as part of unit needs
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation including dysrhythmia recognition
- Mechanical ventilation management and troubleshooting
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) operation and management
- ABG interpretation and ventilator weaning strategies
- Arterial line and Swan-Ganz hemodynamic monitoring
- Chest tube management and post-op cardiac surgical care
- Telemetry monitoring (Nihon Kohden) and bedside telemetry oversight
- Familiarity with devices such as IABP, Impella, VADs, TAVR and STEMI/PCI care
- Noninvasive respiratory supports: BiPAP/CPAP/HFNC/Vapotherm and Glidescope familiarity
