Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care in a combined CVICU/ICU/PCU environment, delivering compassionate, expert bedside care
• Monitor telemetry and interpret EKGs and dysrhythmias accurately to guide timely interventions
• Manage ventilators: troubleshoot, wean and collaborate with RT and providers to optimize respiratory care
• Titrate critical IV drips (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants) safely and per protocol
• Perform advanced line management including arterial lines, chest tubes and Swan-Ganz when required
• Recognize and interpret ABGs to inform ventilator settings and acid-base management
• Respond to rapid responses and code blues; function as a reliable team member under pressure
• Float across ICU, PCU and MST units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
• Document thoroughly in Cerner and communicate effectively with intensivists, hospitalists and multidisciplinary team
• Complete unit orientation and required skill checkoffs (including dysrhythmia exam) prior to shift start

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to submit); license to submit is required
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of recent critical care nursing experience
• Strong EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition skills (must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to contract sign-off)
• Experience with ventilator management and troubleshooting
• Comfortable titrating vasoactive and critical care drips
• Telemetry monitoring experience and ability to read own strips (no monitor tech support)
• CRRT/Prismaflex, IABP, Impella or open-heart/post-op cardiac experience preferred
• Willingness to float to PCU/MST/EC ICU as part of unit rotation and work nights/weekends

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required (ADN/diploma acceptable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing fundamentals (CVICU, post-op cardiac, STEMI/PCI care)
• Telemetry monitoring and Nihon Kohden monitor familiarity
• EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Ventilator management and adjunct respiratory therapies (HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm)
• CRRT/Prismaflex familiarity and post-op cardiac device knowledge (IABP, VAD, Impella, TAVR)
• Arterial line, chest tube and Swan-Ganz management and troubleshooting
• ABG interpretation and application to clinical decision-making
• Proficient documentation in Cerner and clear multidisciplinary communication
