Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Nights). Schedule includes weekends (approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks), may include standby shifts and floating to Tele/other ICU floors.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert neurocritical care to a diverse caseload including post-op crani, tumor removals, ablations, complex spine surgeries and more
- Perform frequent and focused neuro assessments and manage intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
- Safely manage external ventricular drains (EVDs) and ventilators as indicated
- Maintain sterile technique for procedures (Foley insertion, central line dressing changes) and complete SIMs Lab competencies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT and pharmacy for 24/7 critical care coverage
- Document care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes in patient condition promptly
- Float to Tele or other ICU floors when needed and manage variable patient assignments (Tele 4:1 when floated)
- Support unit operations when assigned charge responsibilities (charge nurse does not take patients)
Qualifications
- Active RN license valid for practice in Arizona
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large hospital (450+ beds) required
- Mandatory Level 1 trauma experience
- Prior EVD (external ventricular drain) and ICP monitoring experience required
- 3-6 months travel nurse experience preferred
- Comfortable with Cerner electronic medical record
- Able to pass required exams and SIMs Lab skills; facility grooming and fit-test policies apply (natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean-shaven for fit test)
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) accepted
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong neuro assessment and critical thinking skills
- EVD management and ICP monitoring expertise
- Mechanical ventilator management experience
- Proficiency with Cerner charting
- Sterile field maintenance and procedural competency (Foley, central line care, port-a-cath familiarity)
- Telemetry monitoring (Phillips) and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Wound care, lifts and restraints familiarity
- Ability to work effectively while floating between ICU and Tele units
