Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts. Primary nights: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (1900-0730) with day coverage at 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (0700-1930) as needed. Every other weekend required, self-scheduling but not guaranteed; night-focused assignment with guaranteed 36 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate ICU nursing care for critically ill adults and medical-surgical ICU patients
• Manage ventilators (Hamilton G5, Puritan Bennett 840) and titrate ventilator settings in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Safely administer and titrate vasoactive drips and sedatives including amiodarone, cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, propofol and hypertensive drips
• Continuously monitor telemetry strips and interpret rhythms from in-room GE monitors
• Use Cerner PowerChart for accurate charting and care coordination
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, RT, and pharmacy to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to telemetry (and occasionally ED if desired) with professionalism and adaptability
• Participate in unit orientation and maintain required documentation and certifications

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in California
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Demonstrated competency with ventilator management and vasoactive drips
• Comfort interpreting telemetry and working without dedicated monitor techs
• Travel nurse experience preferred and traveler-friendly attitude
• Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work every other weekend

Education

• ADN or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and clinical decision-making
• Ventilator management (Hamilton G5, Puritan Bennett 840) and ARDS care principles
• Familiarity with vasoactive drip titration and sedation practices
• Telemetry rhythm recognition and strip interpretation
• Proficient documentation in Cerner PowerChart (EMR)
• IV/medication drip management and safe infusion practices
• Team communication with ICU physicians, RTs, and pharmacy
• Ability to float to telemetry and assist in emergency/ED situations
