Shift Type: Rotating nights, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule made 4 weeks in advance; typically includes two weekend shifts per pay period (weekend nights often fall Fri-Sat); night shift, first-to-float to PCU/MST/EC ICU as needed; guaranteed 48 hours/week

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care for CVICU/ICU/PCU patients, delivering safe, evidence-based nursing interventions
- Manage ventilator weaning and troubleshooting, collaborating with RT and the ICU team
- Titrate vasoactive and sedation drips according to protocols and patient response
- Interpret EKGs and dysrhythmias and respond rapidly during code blue and rapid response events
- Perform bedside procedures and manage invasive lines including arterial lines, Swan (PA) catheters and chest tubes
- Support CRRT (Prismaflex) and other extracorporeal therapies when indicated
- Accurately assess and interpret ABGs and adjust care plans accordingly
- Document thoroughly in Cerner and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the appropriate state (able to work in Arizona)
- BLS and ACLS required prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of recent critical care (ICU/CVICU) nursing experience
- Strong EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation skills and the ability to pass the facility dysrhythmia exam (80% within two attempts)
- Experience with ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Comfort with titrating critical care drips (pressors, sedatives, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants)
- Prefer experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRT; familiarity with Impella, TAVR and VAD devices a plus
- Willingness to float within the critical care service line and meet radius/affiliation requirements
Education
- Active RN license required; BSN preferred but not required
- 12 hours orientation plus unit-specific precepted shifts as outlined during onboarding
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and Vapotherm experience
- EKG reading and dysrhythmia recognition
- ABG interpretation and blood gas management
- CRRT (Prismaflex) troubleshooting and support
- Invasive line management: arterial lines, Swan (PA) catheters, chest tubes
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring (Nihon Kohden) and bedside tele strip interpretation
- Experience with cardiac devices: IABP, Impella, VADs, TAVR
- Comfort using Glidescope during intubation assistance and participating in proning
