Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts (primarily night shift). Schedule includes 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, guaranteed 36 hours/week, may be placed on standby and required to float between ICU and Telemetry units.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive neuro assessments and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) closely
- Manage external ventricular drains (EVDs) and provide high-acuity neurocritical care
- Operate and manage ventilators and collaborate with respiratory therapy 24/7
- Maintain sterile technique for central line dressing changes and Foley insertions during SIMs Lab and on the unit
- Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate changes promptly
- Collaborate with neurosurgery, pharmacy, and multidisciplinary teams for complex cases
- Safely float between ICU and Telemetry units and manage appropriate patient ratios (1:2 in ICU, up to 4:1 on Tele)
- Act as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating care and supporting unit operations
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for Arizona submission (able to obtain AZ license if needed)
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a large (450+ bed) hospital
- Must have Level 1 Trauma experience and demonstrated EVD experience
- Strong neuro assessment and ICP monitoring skills
- Experience with ventilator management and telemetry/Phillips monitors
- Travel nurse experience (3-6 months) preferred
- Willingness to complete and pass SIMs Lab (Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes) and pass DYS exam prior to accepting (2 attempts allowed)
- Travel teams must have their own vehicle; meet facility grooming/fit-test requirements (natural hair color, no facial piercings, men clean-shaven for fit test)
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma accepted (BSN not required)
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in neuro critical care and neuro assessment
- Hands-on experience with EVD and ICP monitoring
- Proficient ventilator management and collaboration with RT
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR and accurate clinical documentation
- Telemetry monitoring and Philips monitor familiarity
- Sterile technique for central line care and Foley catheter insertion
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt when floating between ICU and Telemetry units
