Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality critical care to adult ICU patients across SICU, MICU and TICU
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory therapies (Cervo I, jets, oscillators)
• Interpret telemetry/EKG strips and titrate drips safely and accurately
• Perform and maintain sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Collaborate with intensivists, RTs and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Participate in SIMs Lab and unit orientation to demonstrate competency in required skills
• Float among ICU pods and assist MedSurg/Telemetry units as needed to maintain excellent patient coverage

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Arizona or compact) required
• ACLS, BLS and NIHSS certifications required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (Level 1 trauma experience required)
• Experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility preferred/required
• Must be able to read and interpret EKG/telemetry strips and pass dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts allowed)
• Competency in ventilator management, invasive line care and sterile technique
• Able to pass facility SIMs Lab skills (Foley insertion and central line dressing change) on day 1
• Travel team requirements: own vehicle and valid driver’s license (50 mile radius rule applies)
• Must meet facility appearance/fit-test policies (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit test)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing and ICU workflow
• Telemetry and EKG strip interpretation
• Ventilator management and advanced respiratory devices (incl. oscillator/CERO ventilators)
• Titration of drips and common ICU infusions
• Invasive line care and sterile technique for central lines and Foley catheters
• Cerner charting experience
• Trauma care skills for Level 1 trauma patients
• Bedside procedures: bronchoscopy support, tracheostomy care, hemodialysis catheter care
