Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for ICU and PCU patients across a multi-acuity unit
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias accurately
• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs at the bedside
• Titrate IV drips (sedation, vasopressors, insulin) safely and per protocol
• Manage ventilators and support with BiPAP/CPAP care in coordination with RT
• Serve as primary RN when needed, covering PCU and MST patients with close attention to ratios
• Collaborate with remote monitor techs and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to designated units (EC MST, Pediatrics, West Campus ICU/PCU) as required to maintain competency

Qualifications

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact RN as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (one year ICU + one year PCU/Med-Surg may be considered for larger-facility backgrounds)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Comfortable titrating infusions and managing sedation, vasopressors, and insulin drips
• Experience with ventilator/BiPAP/CPAP management and bedside cardiac monitoring
• Ability to perform 12-lead EKGs and proficiency in dysrhythmia recognition (must pass dysrhythmia exam with required score within two attempts)
• Familiarity with Cerner charting preferred
• Willingness to float and respond to staffing needs with ~2-hour notice
• Compliance with facility rules: candidates may not have been employed full-time/part-time/PRN with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) in the past 12 months and must meet the 50-mile radius rule

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and interventions
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and 12-lead EKG skills
• IV drip titration and infusion management
• Ventilator and respiratory support knowledge (vents, BiPAP, CPAP)
• Telemetry and bedside cardiac monitoring
• Cerner charting system familiarity
• Charge nurse and team coordination experience (preferred)
• Ability to work effectively with remote monitor techs and interdisciplinary teams
