Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and continuously monitor critically ill adult and adolescent patients — your observations save lives
- Manage and titrate vasoactive drips, sedatives, paralytics and other critical infusions safely and accurately
- Interpret telemetry strips and respond quickly to arrhythmias and changes in cardiac status
- Troubleshoot and support ventilator management from high-flow to full ventilator support
- Respond to emergencies, RRTs and codes as an active, skilled team member
- Provide and manage IV/central line care, arterial lines and advanced monitoring devices
- Document care clearly and efficiently in EPIC to maintain continuity and compliance
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, RTs, techs, fellows and residents — to deliver high-quality care
- Float to other inpatient units as needed (excluding Maternity/NICU) and adapt to fast-paced volume changes
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in the assignment state
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute/critical care nursing experience
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS at time of submission
- Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
- Ability to titrate drips and manage critical-care medications confidently
- Comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry (no monitor techs to rely on)
- Willingness to complete orientation requirements and pass the open-book orientation exam (90% pass required)
- Adherence to facility policies (for example: artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas)
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care assessment and patient stabilization
- Telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation (Draeger monitors)
- Drip titration and vasoactive medication management
- Ventilator support and troubleshooting across modalities
- Experience with central lines, A-lines, CVP, and exposure to CRRT/Swan-Ganz (can train in many devices)
- Proficiency with EPIC charting and acute care documentation
- Strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
