Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare endoscopy rooms and equipment thoroughly before each procedure to ensure smooth, safe operations
• Assist nurses and physicians during ERCP, EGD and bronchoscopy procedures to support excellent patient care
• Maintain sterile technique and perform instrument cleanup and sterilization after procedures
• Set up and troubleshoot endoscopic instruments and scopes so teams can focus on patient outcomes
• Respond to call/standby assignments within a 30-minute window to support urgent or overflow cases
• Chart accurately in Cerner and communicate clear handoffs to the care team

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician program OR 1 year of experience as a GI Lab Technician
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (GI/endoscopy preferred)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Comfortable with ERCP, EGD and Bronchoscopy procedural environments
• Able to respond to call within 30 minutes and work rotating weekends/EOW call
• Familiarity with Cerner charting preferred; willingness to complete 12 hours of orientation

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician program or equivalent formal training; OR one year of experience as a GI Lab Technician

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven endoscopy skills and room/equipment preparation expertise
• Strong sterile technique and infection control practices
• Experience assisting during procedures (ERCP, EGD, Bronchoscopy)
• Ability to perform cleanup, sterilization and instrument reprocessing
• Patient assistance skills with a calm, professional bedside manner
• Charting and documentation experience (Cerner preferred)
• Comfort working on a 3-person team in a 2-suite GI/endoscopy setting
