Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the GI/Endoscopy unit
• Prepare patients and assist the team during endoscopic procedures
• Monitor patients receiving sedation and manage safety per policy
• Perform thorough assessments, document in Cerner, and communicate changes promptly
• Administer medications and interventions according to scope and protocol
• Participate in call rotation and respond to urgent patient needs
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
• Support unit workflow by maintaining infection control and equipment readiness

Qualifications

• Current RN license in California or compact license eligible for practice
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience
• ACLS and BLS required prior to start
• Willingness to learn procedural sedation and participate in call
• Experience with Cerner charting preferred
• Ability to work day and evening shifts and cover every-other-weekend rotation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of endoscopy/GI unit workflows and patient preparation
• Sedation monitoring and post-procedure recovery practices
• Proficient clinical assessment and IV therapy skills
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record system
• Excellent communication, prioritization, and teamwork abilities
• Comfortable with acute care protocols and emergency response (ACLS/BLS)
