Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in the GI/Endoscopy unit
- Prepare patients and assist the team during endoscopic procedures
- Monitor patients receiving sedation and manage safety per policy
- Perform thorough assessments, document in Cerner, and communicate changes promptly
- Administer medications and interventions according to scope and protocol
- Participate in call rotation and respond to urgent patient needs
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
- Support unit workflow by maintaining infection control and equipment readiness
Qualifications
- Current RN license in California or compact license eligible for practice
- Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience
- ACLS and BLS required prior to start
- Willingness to learn procedural sedation and participate in call
- Experience with Cerner charting preferred
- Ability to work day and evening shifts and cover every-other-weekend rotation
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of endoscopy/GI unit workflows and patient preparation
- Sedation monitoring and post-procedure recovery practices
- Proficient clinical assessment and IV therapy skills
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical record system
- Excellent communication, prioritization, and teamwork abilities
- Comfortable with acute care protocols and emergency response (ACLS/BLS)
