Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced ER
• Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care and improve outcomes
• Float between adult and pediatric ER as needed, applying pediatric-specific assessment and interventions
• Perform basic EKG interpretation and participate in STEMI and stroke alerts when required
• Deliver ACLS, PALS and BLS interventions and participate in NIHSS assessments for suspected strokes
• Collaborate with MDs, midlevels, monitor techs, LVNs, CNAs and EMS to coordinate patient care
• Manage procedural sedation and critical care scenarios following unit-specific ratios and protocols
• Document thoroughly in Cerner and complete required orientation and competency curricula

Qualifications

• Active RN license to practice in California (required)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience (must have; no first-time travelers)
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS and NIHSS certifications (required)
• Pediatric emergency experience required; ENPC or CPEN preferred
• Demonstrated ability to float between adult and pediatric ERs and to work 12-hour shifts
• Basic EKG interpretation skills and comfort with STEMI/CVA protocols
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Individual travelers only; travel teams/duos not accepted

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) license — ADN/Associate or Diploma acceptable; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing assessment and triage skills
• Comfort caring for both pediatric and adult populations, including high-acuity cases
• EKG rhythm recognition and basic interpretation
• Familiarity with procedural sedation, STEMI care pathways and stroke protocols
• Ability to work with Phillips monitoring equipment and monitor tech support
• Teamwork, clear communication with multidisciplinary teams, and respect for EMS and colleagues
• Adaptability to a high-volume ER environment (approx 325 visits/day across both ERs)
