Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients quickly and accurately on arrival to the ER
• Provide hands-on emergency nursing care including trauma management and airway support
• Administer and mix medications safely, including common drips and emergency meds
• Insert IVs, perform phlebotomy when indicated, and manage vascular access
• Assist with respiratory interventions including BIPAP, high-flow, ventilator support and intubation assistance
• Interpret EKGs and cardiac strips to identify acute cardiac events
• Collaborate with the ED physician and/or mid-level providers for timely patient management
• Participate in trauma responses and rapid team-based resuscitations
• Document care accurately in Meditech and maintain clinical handoffs
• Float to other units like med-surg as needed and support behavioral patient care when required

Qualifications

• Current RN license eligible for practice in North Dakota
• Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
• Preferred: NRP and previous travel nurse experience
• Strong skills in medication administration/mixing, IV insertion, and EKG interpretation
• Comfortable assisting with respiratory equipment, ventilator support, and intubation
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and work well on a trauma-capable team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage principles
• Trauma care and rapid assessment
• Respiratory management including ventilators, BiPAP and high-flow devices
• Medication mixing and drip management (e.g., insulin, heparin, vasopressors, sedatives)
• EKG and cardiac rhythm strip interpretation
• Meditech charting system experience
• Phlebotomy and IV start skills
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork and time management
