Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts with day start times typically 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM or 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM; schedule includes every other weekend and 2 of 3 major holidays; guaranteed 36 hours per week; first-to-float shifts and 12-hour orientation (max 2 shifts).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality emergency nursing care for patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics to critical care
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care in a high-volume ER (270–320 daily visits)
- Manage and interpret telemetry (Phillips) and monitor for arrhythmias and acute changes
- Assist with ventilated patients while coordinating with RT, and support rapid interventions in critical events
- Collaborate with physicians, midlevels, cath lab, and multidisciplinary teams for STEMI and stroke protocols
- Document care accurately and efficiently in Cerner to ensure continuity and compliance
- Serve as a professional resource to students and peers while maintaining patient-focused priorities
- Adhere to unit staffing ratios (1:4) and participate in every-other-weekend coverage and major holiday rotations
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (license to submit required)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience; ER or high-acuity experience required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS (copies must be provided with profile package)
- Telemetry interpretation experience (Phillips) and critical care familiarity
- No first-time travelers; prior travel nurse experience preferred
- Comfort working in a busy, high-acuity emergency department with 62 beds plus overflow
Education
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
- BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing and triage best practices
- Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation (Phillips)
- Basic ventilator patient management while coordinating with respiratory therapy
- Sepsis, STEMI, and stroke assessment and acute care pathways
- Proficient Cerner EMR documentation and order workflows
- Strong prioritization, communication, and teamwork in fast-paced settings
- Charge nurse collaboration and ability to function in a unit with learners and multiple teams
