Shift Type: Primarily Nights (12-hour night shifts), 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; rotating 12-hour day options also used (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM). Mid shift variations include 10:00 AM - 10:30 PM, 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM, 1:00 PM - 1:30 AM, and 3:00 PM - 3:30 AM. Schedule: 4-week schedules with self-scheduling (finalized by manager), every-other-week (EOW) rotation, and a weekend requirement of 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Nights: Fri/Sat; Days: Sat/Sun).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide timely, high-quality emergency nursing care for a busy 18-bed ED, managing up to ~100 patients per day
• Triage and prioritize patients effectively to ensure rapid assessment and treatment
• Stabilize and coordinate transfers for higher-acuity patients with hospitalists/intensivists as needed
• Document all patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, ED techs/EMTs, and physicians to deliver coordinated care
• Manage patient flow and maintain safe patient ratios (typically 1:4; 1:2 for ICU patients)
• Float between two nearby campuses when required and adapt quickly to site-specific workflows
• Serve as a team player and contribute to a supportive, primary-job-focused work culture

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for submission in California
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience charting in Cerner (EMR) preferred and highly valued
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and floating between nearby facilities
• Must be able to make this assignment your primary job and commit to scheduled hours

Education

• BSN not required (BSN Required: No as stated)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and emergency assessment skills in a fast-paced ED
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting
• Familiarity with Philips telemetry systems and ventilator support
• Knowledge of Omnicell pharmacy systems and collaboration with 24/7 pharmacy
• Ability to work within defined patient ratios and escalate appropriately
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
