Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour evening shifts, 3:00 PM - 3:00 AM; schedule based on department needs (may include weekdays and weekends); every-other-weekend required; holiday coverage required in November/December
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage patients quickly and accurately to ensure the sickest get care first
- Assess and manage a wide range of emergency and trauma patients, from cardiac events to respiratory crises
- Provide critical care interventions and collaborate with RTs and physicians for ventilator and advanced airway management
- Manage ER holds and coordinate inpatient transitions when beds become available
- Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in Epic
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including ED techs, CNAs, RTs and physicians to deliver high-quality care
- Maintain safety in the ED including care for behavioral health patients in secure seclusion rooms when needed
- Participate in unit orientation and ongoing education to maintain best practices
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Washington or a Compact RN license
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC, NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (note: travelers with 1 year in a larger trauma setting may be considered)
- Comfort managing high-volume emergency care with typical ED ratios up to 1:3 (1:4 for low acuity)
- Ability to work evenings, every-other-weekend and required holiday coverage in Nov/Dec
- Willingness to complete department orientation including compliance and 12-hour department orientation
Education
- BSN not required
- Active RN license (WA or Compact) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency department and trauma nursing expertise including triage and rapid patient assessment
- Familiarity with Epic electronic medical records
- Experience with EKGs, ABG interpretation familiarity and respiratory support like CPAP, BiPAP and high flow
- Comfort caring for patients with cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS and behavioral health needs
- Strong critical thinking, rapid decision-making and effective communication skills in high-stress settings
- Ability to collaborate with RTs, transport, radiology and lab for efficient patient flow
