Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day: 06:45 AM - 07:15 PM; Night: 06:45 PM - 07:15 AM); additional varied day starts available at 09:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 03:00 PM. Schedule includes every-other-weekend coverage (Friday-Sunday counted as the weekend) with holiday coverage as needed; rotating day/night shifts including weekends.

Candidate Pay Rate: $68 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage high-volume emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care
- Provide direct patient care for acute conditions including STEMI, stroke, sepsis, DKA and trauma presentations
- Collaborate with ED physicians, PAs and NPs to implement treatment plans and anticipate dispositions
- Perform and document patient assessments using Cerner PowerChart and communicate findings clearly
- Deliver life-saving interventions following ACLS, BLS and PALS protocols when indicated
- Support fast-track operations while remaining prepared to float to main ER for acute care needs
- Work alongside RTs, phlebotomists and ER techs to coordinate efficient, patient-centered care
- Serve as a dependable team member on weekends and holidays to maintain continuity of emergency services
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (or compact license where applicable)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; emergency and/or trauma experience preferred
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- NIHSS and PALS certifications required
- Comfortable with high-volume ED environment (approx. 250 visits/day) and 2:1 to 4:1 ratios
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Cerner PowerChart experience strongly preferred
- Willingness to complete unit orientation (1 day) and adhere to facility policies
Education
- Active RN license (required)
- BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong triage and rapid patient assessment skills
- Proven ability to manage cardiac/STEMI, stroke, sepsis and DKA patients
- Experience with emergency department workflows and fast-track operations
- Familiarity with ventilator support and collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
- Effective communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
- Competence with documentation in Cerner PowerChart and monitor telemetry systems
