Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts, typical night hours 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, guaranteed 36 hours/week

Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage and manage a high-volume ER patient load, providing expert emergency and trauma care
- Perform timely assessments and interventions for trauma, burns, and acute presentations
- Care for critically ill patients alongside physicians, RTs, and the multidisciplinary team
- Maintain sterile technique during procedures such as Foley insertion and port-a-cath work
- Interpret ECGs and telemetry strips using Phillips monitors to detect urgent changes
- Document thoroughly in Cerner to ensure continuity and safety of care
- Participate in SIMs lab and competency checks to demonstrate procedural skills
- Support patient transfers, lifts, restraints, and wound care with professionalism and compassion
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license appropriate for the assignment
- Minimum 1 year of Trauma Level 1 experience required (will screen 8 months+; manager prefers Level I experience as both perm staff and traveler)
- 2 years ER experience noted as a strong preference
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (ENPC may not replace PALS)
- Preferred certifications: TNCC and ATCN
- Ability to pass the required DYS exam prior to accepting assignment (two attempts allowed)
- Successful completion of SIMs Lab competency checks (sterile field, Foley, port-a-cath where applicable)
- Travel team requirements: reliable vehicle and adherence to site appearance policies (natural hair color, no facial piercings; men clean-shaven for fit testing)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Department nursing and Trauma Level 1 workflows
- Patient triage and rapid assessment skills
- ECG/monitor strip reading and telemetry (Phillips monitors)
- Experience with Cerner charting and documentation
- Competency in sterile field maintenance and port-a-cath procedures
- Wound care, restraints, and safe patient lifts and transfers
- Pediatric patient care transfers and comfort with high-volume ED throughput
