Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (day and night). Typical windows: 06:45 AM - 07:15 PM (day) and 06:45 PM - 07:15 AM (night). Day shift may also start at 09:00 AM, 12:00 PM or 03:00 PM. Schedule includes nights, every-other-weekend (Fri-Sat-Sun) and required holiday coverage; must be flexible.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage, assess and stabilize patients in a high-volume emergency room providing timely, evidence-based care
• Deliver acute care for STEMI, stroke, sepsis, DKA and a wide variety of emergency presentations
• Document thoroughly and efficiently using Cerner PowerChart to ensure clear continuity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, PAs and NPs to develop and implement rapid treatment plans
• Lead and coordinate with ER techs and support staff to keep patient flow moving and safe
• Operate and interpret GE monitor telemetry and support respiratory/ventilator management with RT
• Provide compassionate patient and family communication during high-stress situations
• Participate in unit orientation and teamwork that supports fast track, treat-and-dispose, and acute care areas

Qualifications

• Active RN license (valid for California) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; ER or acute care experience preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• NIHSS and PALS certifications required
• Comfortable working 12-hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends and holidays
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR preferred
• Trauma experience preferred; first-time travelers are welcome

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) accepted (BSN not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and emergency assessment skills
• Familiarity with STEMI and stroke protocols and rapid response workflows
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring (GE monitors) and basic ventilator/RT collaboration
• Sepsis and DKA management knowledge
• Excellent documentation and charting practices in Cerner
• Team leadership in a fast-paced ER environment and effective communication with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to manage high patient volumes and varied patient acuity
