Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for adult and pediatric patients in a busy 15-bed ER and 6-bed fast track
• Perform rapid assessment, triage and stabilization for trauma, stroke, orthopedic injuries and behavioral health patients
• Manage ventilators and collaborate with respiratory therapy for complex respiratory cases
• Use Cerner (FirstNet) for accurate charting and medication administration
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, taking a small patient load and coordinating team workflow
• Collaborate with physicians, midlevels, RT and pharmacy to deliver timely, evidence-based care
• Monitor telemetry with central monitor systems (Philips) and escalate changes in patient condition
• Contribute to a safe, efficient unit by mentoring techs and communicating clearly during high-acuity times

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in California)
• Minimum 3 years of emergency/critical care nursing experience; 3-5 years in specialty preferred
• Current ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications required
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Experience with Cerner (FirstNet) charting preferred
• Hands-on ventilator management and telemetry experience
• Comfortable with charge nurse duties and taking a small patient assignment when needed
• Willingness to work nights, every other weekend and holidays per rotation

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) accepted; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing best practices and rapid triage skills
• Ventilator management and collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Proficiency with Cerner (FirstNet) electronic medical records
• Telemetry interpretation and working with Philips central monitoring
• Trauma Level III care knowledge and pediatric emergency experience
• Strong communication, critical thinking and team leadership skills
