Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Primarily nights, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (12-hour shifts). Schedule includes every-other-weekend coverage (Fri-Sun counted as weekend), holiday rotation as needed. Guaranteed 36 hours/week. Night shift (NOC) — must be flexible with occasional shift variations.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage and assess high-volume emergency patients quickly and accurately to prioritize life-saving care
- Deliver evidence-based emergency nursing for STEMI, stroke, sepsis, DKA, cardiac and trauma presentations
- Provide fast, compassionate care in both main ER and fast track areas to maximize patient flow and outcomes
- Collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, RT, pharmacy, and techs to coordinate safe patient management
- Document patient care thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner PowerChart for clear continuity and legal compliance
- Support disposition planning — treat, anticipate disposition, and facilitate timely transfers or admissions
- Act as a reliable team member during high-volume periods (250 visits/day) and step into charge relief or support as needed
Qualifications
- Current RN license in good standing (California licensure required prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care / emergency nursing experience
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
- Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and rotating weekend/holiday coverage
- Experience with Cerner PowerChart preferred
- Trauma and fast-track experience preferred; first-time travelers are welcome
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency and triage skills with rapid assessment capability
- Experience managing STEMI, stroke protocols, sepsis bundles, and DKA care
- Ability to work in a high-volume ED environment (approx. 250 visits/day) while maintaining patient safety
- Proficient in electronic charting (Cerner PowerChart) and bedside monitoring systems (GE monitors)
- Effective communication and teamwork with physicians, PAs/NPs, RT, and tech staff
- Familiarity with ED ratios and flow (2:1 / 4:1), and ability to prioritize under pressure
