Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to a high-volume patient population
• Triage, assess, and manage a wide variety of acute presentations including STEMI, stroke, sepsis, DKA, and intoxication
• Collaborate closely with ED physicians, PAs, and NPs to implement rapid, evidence-based treatment plans
• Document care accurately and efficiently using Cerner PowerChart
• Monitor telemetry and manage patients on GE monitors with support from monitor techs
• Perform life-saving interventions and support code team efforts, maintaining ACLS protocols
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and disposition plans
• Work within fast track and main ER workflows to optimize throughput and patient flow

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (per facility requirements)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience; emergency/trauma experience preferred
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• NIHSS and PALS certifications required
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR preferred
• Ability to handle a fast-paced ED with approximately 250 visits per day
• BSN preferred but not required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage best practices
• Cerner PowerChart clinical documentation
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation (GE monitors)
• STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and DKA recognition and management
• Airway and ventilator awareness in collaboration with RT
• Effective teamwork with MDs, PAs, NPs, techs, and phlebotomy staff
• Time management in high-acuity, high-volume settings
• Familiarity with fast track workflows and acute care disposition
