Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (examples: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM; 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM; 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM; 2:00 PM - 2:00 AM; other 12-hour starts such as 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM). Rotating schedule including every-other weekend and holiday rotation. Schedules posted 30-45 days in advance. Includes day and night coverage (rotating).

Candidate Pay Rate: $77 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately in a busy Level III trauma Emergency Department
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care for adults and pediatrics across a broad range of diagnoses
- Manage ventilated patients and monitor telemetry strips in collaboration with ICU/central monitoring
- Lead and coordinate care when serving as charge nurse, taking a small patient load as needed
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, hospitalists/intensivists and midlevel providers for safe, efficient care
- Document care thoroughly in Cerner (FirstNet) to ensure continuity and compliance
- Advocate for patients and families during high-acuity situations and emergency interventions
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Minimum 3-5 years of emergency department or specialty trauma nursing experience (Level III trauma preferred)
- Current ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications
- Experience with Cerner (FirstNet) and central telemetry monitoring (Philips)
- Comfortable with ventilator management and caring for high-acuity patients
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, every-other weekend and holiday rotation
- Strong teamwork, communication skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and active RN licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing and trauma care (Level III trauma experience preferred)
- Patient triage and rapid assessment
- Ventilator management and respiratory collaboration
- Telemetry monitoring (Philips) and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Pediatric emergency care and management of psychiatric patients
- Charge nurse duties, delegation, and working with nurse aides/unit secretaries
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
