Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day/Night): Day 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM; Night 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM. Schedule includes additional start times around 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Rotating coverage across all days of the week with every-other-weekend (Friday-Sunday) and holiday coverage required.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and rapidly assess high-volume ER patients to prioritize lifesaving care
• Deliver acute care for STEMI, stroke, sepsis, DKA and other critical presentations
• Perform advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric interventions (PALS) as needed
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner PowerChart
• Collaborate with physicians, mid-levels, respiratory therapy and pharmacy for coordinated care
• Support fast track operations and help manage dispositions to keep patient flow moving
• Supervise and delegate to ER techs and coordinate ancillary services for timely interventions
• Maintain patient safety and comfort in a busy, fast-paced emergency environment

Qualifications

• Active California RN license (or compact-eligible) required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS and PALS required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (ER or acute care strongly preferred)
• Experience with Cerner PowerChart or similar EMR preferred
• Comfortable with 12-hour shifts, rotating schedules, weekends and holiday coverage
• Trauma experience preferred but first-time travelers are welcome

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing assessment and triage skills
• Familiarity with STEMI, stroke protocols and rapid recognition tools
• Sepsis and DKA management competence
• Cardiac monitoring/telemetry interpretation and critical care collaboration
• Basic ventilator knowledge and ability to work with respiratory therapists
• Efficient electronic charting and documentation (Cerner PowerChart)
• Excellent communication, teamwork and the ability to work under pressure
