Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM, 3 days per week (typical schedule), includes weekends (4 weekend shifts per 4-week period); rotating day/night coverage may occur with weekend night coverage (Fri-Sat) as needed

Roles & Responsibilities

• Place patients into the appropriate unit and bed using TeleTracking and Cerner — your decisions help the flow across multiple campuses
• Triage bed requests, apply critical thinking when orders don’t match the bed request, and communicate clearly with charge nurses and leadership
• Operate multiple applications and screens simultaneously (TeleTrac, Cerner, Google apps, chats) to coordinate admissions and transfers
• Escalate issues to charge or leadership when clinical questions arise — you’re the placement expert, not providing hands-on care
• Maintain accurate documentation of bed assignments and communicate status updates to ED and leadership
• Support hospital throughput goals by assigning beds efficiently and reliably across assigned hospitals

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required) and ability to submit license
• BLS certification (required)
• 2 years recent acute care experience preferred (ER/ICU/critical care background ideal)
• Experience with TeleTracking and Cerner is required
• Strong computer skills and comfort using multiple Google apps and Zoom
• Excellent multitasking, communication and customer service skills
• House supervisor experience preferred (must have knowledge/experience even though role is full-time patient placement)
• Ok for first-time travelers; candidates cannot have worked for CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) facilities within the past year (PRN via outside firms is acceptable)
• Must complete the DYS exam through UNA within 24-48 hours of acceptance (Relias Dys within 12 months acceptable); two attempts allowed

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient placement and bed management best practices
• TeleTracking (bed management system) proficiency
• Cerner EMR navigation and charting
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
• Advanced multitasking across multiple screens and chat platforms
• Clear, professional communication with ED, charge nurses and leadership
• Understanding differences between unit types (MedSurg, Tele, ICU, ED)
• Familiarity with hospital throughput and surge processes
