Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts with weekend rotation; primary 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, occasional 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM rotations as needed; schedule includes weekdays, every other Saturday (max), on-call one night per week and every other Sunday (max); shift type: rotating/day

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide safe, expert acute hemodialysis care for ESRD and acute renal failure patients in the dialysis suite and ICU (1:1 treatments)
- Perform AVF/AVG cannulation and manage central venous catheter (CVC) access with skill and confidence
- Recognize and manage hemodialysis complications and emergencies promptly and effectively
- Initiate and terminate peritoneal dialysis care, including site and catheter care
- Titrate heparin per unit protocols and manage set-rate drips as required
- Collaborate with monitor techs, RTs, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated patient care
- Float between Bryan and College Station campuses as needed to support patient care continuity
- Precept and mentor staff as requested to help build unit competency
Qualifications
- Active RN license (eligible to work in Texas)
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience — acute care dialysis experience strongly preferred
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA or APEX)
- Comfort with 12-hour rotating schedules, weekend rotation, and on-call responsibilities
- Experience with AVF/AVG cannulation and CVC access
- Familiarity with heparin titration and management of dialysis-related emergencies
- Ability to chart in MEDITECH and work collaboratively with unit teams
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing acceptable — BSN not required
- Active RN licensure for Texas
Knowledge & Skills
- Acute dialysis nursing competencies (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis)
- AVF/AVG cannulation technique and CVC care
- Recognition and management of hemodialysis complications
- Peritoneal dialysis initiation, termination, and catheter/site care
- Telemetry and central bedside monitoring awareness for ICU transfers
- Vent/HiFlow/CPAP/BiPAP familiarity for ICU patient support
- Precepting and mentoring skills to support unit growth
