Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient nutritional status using validated tools and produce clear nutrition diagnoses
• Design and implement individualized nutrition care plans, including enteral and parenteral feeding when indicated
• Provide patient, family, and caregiver education and counseling to support disease management and recovery
• Monitor, evaluate, and document patient response to nutrition interventions in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and Food and Nutrition Services to ensure menu compliance and enhance patient experience
• Participate in trayline audits, menu reviews, chart audits, and peer review activities
• Contribute to training and support for clinical staff on the Diet Manual Handbook and Nutrition Care Manual

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential via CDR required
• Minimum 2 years acute clinical experience preferred
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Comfortable providing patient education and nutrition counseling across the general and complex patient population
• Willingness to float to other units as first to float
• Able to complete a 12-hour orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Nutrition assessment and care planning expertise
• Clinical documentation best practices and timely charting
• Experience with enteral and parenteral feeding protocols
• Skilled at patient education and counseling for diverse populations
• Familiarity with Nutrition Care Manual, menu review, and trayline auditing
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to perform chart audits, peer review, and quality improvement activities
